by bobbalicious, 241 days agoOur guild has teetered on the brink ever since the launch of Wrath of the Lich King. We have seen many of our best and brightest seek greener pastures, some finding themselves in stronger guilds or even leaving the game entirely. With the loss of our original leaders, The Pacemakers is no longer the casual yet successful guild it was throughout The Burning Crusade. Despite our desperate efforts and sincerest intentions, our guild has fallen into disrepute and has been continuously haemorrhaging members all year.
So it is with heavy hearts that we must put the progression-raiding days of The Pacemakers behind us. We have been debating the future of the guild for a while now. The recent blows we have suffered have called into question our motivations. A much-needed reality-check has shown us that the effort required to mend this guild is more than that which we have at our disposal. We have been struggling uphill and we simply do not have the energy to keep fighting.
The Pacemakers is not disbanding. Our facilities will continue to be made available to those members who wish to make use of them. While we reserve the position of Guild Master, we will be extending the invitation rights to all members. Our guild will hopefully continue to be a place where friends can gather, but without the stress and frustrations of mandatory raiding. Of course, members will be free to organise raids amongst themselves and with non-members, indeed you can do whatever you wish. Enterprising and enthusiastic members may eventually be able to do what we could not, and how wonderful that would be. Ventrilo will still be active so feel free to invite your mates or PUGs to raid, PvP or just clown-around with.
I want to send out a special thanks to the founders of this guild Col, Chakka and Yakpants. Without you, I would have never been in this awesome guild. OMFG... so many memories. It was an absolute honor to raid under you. Being a Guild Master in The Pacemakers has been fun but terribly difficult. When I wasn't at work, I was trying my hardest to continue the traditions of this guild. I feel we were so close to being back to our best, but the guild just has not been since you left. I feel as though I am personally responsible for the guild's failure.
To my officers past and present (Jaleya, Vocah, Nabooli, and Siewmai): You guys rock my world. You mean so much to me and I love you all. We tried our hardest to keep this guild afloat, making the best of what we had, but I feel that maybe we were always fighting a losing battle. Through thick and thin you guys always kept the faith and stayed loyal. You were always willing to help us much as you could. You guys are awesome and will be my friends for life.
My sincerest thanks and apologies go to the loyal and die-hard members who have stayed with us through this troubled period. The few shining moments in these recent dark months would not have been possible without you. Without your patience, we would not have progressed through Ulduar, and likely would not have been abe to continue raiding anything at all. You guys were great and I'll remember you forever.
My apologies to our newest members. We have forged some terrific new friendships recently, if only we had crossed paths long ago. I am so sorry for wasting your time. We were not sure about the fate of the guild until last night. We wish you all the best for the future.
It has been both a pleasure and an honour to have raided with you.
